A HOLISTIC APPROACH TO OPTIMAL HEALTH THROUGH ACUPUNCTURE & TRADITIONAL CHINESE MEDICINE.
Hi, I’m Andrea Allerton, LAc, Dipl. O.M. - founder of Modus Acupuncture, located in the vibrant city of Costa Mesa. My practice combines the ancient wisdom of acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine with the belief that each body is uniquely designed and deserves customized attention. With 20+ years of experience in holistic medicine and therapeutic massage, I am an expert at seeing and hearing what the body is truly asking for. I specialize in women’s wellness of all ages, athletes, and individuals seeking optimal health.
I see one person an hour so you don't feel rushed, forgotten, or left waiting to be seen. My intention is to meet each individual where they are in their process and to walk alongside them towards solutions, healing, and recovery.
“Health is an announcement of agreement between your body, mind and spirit. Honor your body, keep it in good shape. When you are not healthy, look to see which parts of you disagree. Your body will demonstrate the truth to you. Notice what it is showing you, listen to what it is saying.”
— Neale Donald Walsch
HEALING MODALITIES
ACUPUNCTURE & ACU-MAGNET HAND THERAPY
This 3,000-year-old healing technique is a key component of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Tiny, sterile needles calm the nervous system, increase circulation, strengthen the immune system, and restore homeostasis so that the body returns to optimal health and functions the way it was intended to. I also use magnetized, gold-plated neodymium discs to transmit energy in specific directional means through corresponding points on the hands that correlate with specific acupuncture points on the body.
CUPPING
Remove toxins and stagnation, stimulate the flow of blood and energy, and break up obstructions through this ancient practice using glass cups and fire. Cupping is often used in conjunction with acupuncture.
MOXIBUSTION
“Moxa,” consists in the burning of dried Chinese mugwort on acupoints. Moxa can also be a cigar-shaped tube, lit, and held over an acupuncture point, or rolled into a ball and stuck onto the back end of an inserted needle for warming effect and to increase circulation to quicken the healing process.
GUA SHA
A form of mechanical dermabrasion using a hand-held tool to scrape affected areas. It is frequently used to treat seasonal external pathogens, release muscle tension, tightness, and constriction.
THERAPEUTIC MASSAGE
A massage technique with movement (pushing and grasping) to affected areas of the body to help heal injuries by treating inflammation, tension, muscle pain, or other ailments.
HERBAL MEDICINE
Chinese herbs have a gentle way of getting to the root of your problem and supplementing your body while also healing it. Herbs can help a wide range of symptoms and diseases including infertility, immunity, stress, the common cold, lower back pain, whole body pain, high blood pressure, menopausal symptoms, painful menstruation, insomnia, etc.
